Five Minute DIY Lip Balm for All Natural Hydration

DIY Lip Balm

I added homemade labels and gave these out as party favors!

If you’re anything like me, you go through lip balms like a fiend. I have to have one by my bed, in my purse, in my work bag, in the car, in every suitcase just in case. And God forbid I forget a chapstick when I’m out and about. I’m convinced it’s worse than forgetting my phone.

So whether you’re the type to use a lip balm all the way to the very bottom to get every last bit (me) or you find yourself losing them every time you look away (also me), one thing is for sure, you can never have enough!

Once I started looking into DIY lip balms, I knew I wanted something all natural. No alcohol or other chemicals that leave your lips feeling drier than before and create and endless cycle of dependency. I wanted something simple with ingredients I could find and name.

I did some research and came up with my favorite simple combination:

  • 5 teaspoons of Jojoba Oil (or any carrier oil you prefer)
  • 3 teaspoons of Beeswax (I found white pellets on Amazon)
  • 5-10 drops of Essential Oil of your choice (I love lavender, but have also used peppermint and tea tree oil)
  • Tubes or Tins of your choice

Steps:

  1. In a double boiler on medium heat, combine the Jojoba Oil and Beeswax. Stir occasionally until the beeswax is completely melted.
  2. Remove from heat and add 5-10 drops of your favorite Essential Oil.
  3. Pour into containers of your choice.
  4. Let sit until completely hardened, usually an hour or so.
  5. Apply to lips and enjoy!
